Nature

Ever tried to break away from the modern culture?

Ever tried to just take some time off and think?

Ever tried to sit somewhere outside and write without worrying about your "real" life?

My Wilderness Literature teacher gave us a new assignment. We are to do an outdoor journal: go somewhere outside and write. Three times, one event each time.

I just returned from my first day. I went outside at 9:27AM, returned a few minutes later to get a coat, sat outside, and returned inside at 10:46AM.

No matter how crazy or weird it sounds compared to the normal barrage of words that we encounter every day, my mind feels clearer than its ever been. It seemed an insult that my mind, after returning, was so easily drawn into a movie that had been playing the whole time I was outside.

If you haven't just taken some time off and written an outdoor journal lately, it's well worth it.
